Gino Smith Sprained Ankle In Jets Preseason Opener

New York Jets’ QB Geno Smith suffered a mild ankle sprain during Friday night’s preseason game against the Detroit Lions, according to multiple sources.

Smith, who completed 6 of 7 passes for 47 yards before exiting the game, rolled his right ankle on an open field rush in the third quarter. X-rays on his ankle were negative and he doesn’t expect to miss any practice.

The 22-year-old rookie was drafted by the Jets in the 2nd round (39th overall) during the 2013 NFL draft.
