A 36-year-old New Haven man is accused of chasing and threatening a state marshal with a samurai-style sword.
Radames Curbelo is in custody facing charges including threatening, reckless endangerment, carrying a dangerous weapon, interfering with police, criminal mischief and breach of peace. It was not immediately clear if he has hired an attorney.
State marshal James Morrissey tells The New Haven Register reports (http://bit.ly/14sO34z ) he was serving a notice to quit, similar to an eviction notice, on Curbelo Friday when he was attacked.
He says Curbelo crumpled and stomped on the notice, then chased him with the 3-foot sword. He says the man slashed the sword across the side and windshield of his SUV before retreating back inside his home.
He was arrested after a brief standoff with police.
